RG has cancelled four 772ERs on Dec 2, 2002
GECAS has cancelled one 773ER on Dec 2, 2002

Very sad!  Sad

So Varig will just have 2 772s then?

Not a surprise since VARIG is struggling. Star Alliance partners were discussing about helping VARIG to get 737 and 757.

Not sure why GECAS cancelled the 773ER.

Chances are high the two 777s will have the same fate as the the three 744s leased 10 years ago. Varig ran into trouble and was forced to return them.

Good news however... it appears that someone (listed as "Unidentified" by Boeing) has just ordered EIGHT more 773ERs on 12/31/2002!! That's a net increase of 7 new aircraft!!!

Still no other 772LR orders  Sad

Is it possible that Varig is getting the A340? On the Star Alliance hompage is an aircraft model picture of an A340 in the new Varig/Star Alliance c/s.

Greetings

Perhaps they could get some from LH at favourable terms?
