I got the opportunity to fly on this aircraft, in its fantastic special colour scheme, the only time I was ever on a Boeing 777 in late August 2001, from Dublin to Atlanta.

Donder10,

I must ask why you saw it at Heathrow since DL is not allowed to serve LHR?

Donder10 wrote that he saw the plane OVER London-Heathrow (flying).

Patrick

PS. I never saw the Soaring Spirit live, only on pictures.

Jeez guys, it's not like they're writing the bird off or anything... just repainting her!

Yeah it's sad, but I've had many wonderful flights aboard 7005 and look forward to many more. There will most likely be a commemorative title somewhere on the fuselage and a commemorative plaque at the bulkhead of 2L.

It's not like it's a surprise... I mentioned this way back in September of 2001.

As far as I know, the 757 was repainted in December.

I had the pleasure of seeing the 777 soaring spirit in ATL on September 7th. Too bad that it will be repainted.

I pulled up alongside the 757 at Boston Logan International Airport in October 2002 while flying CO from EWR.

Thank goodness these liveries are going. They were hideous.

Good taste is not something that can be taught or acquired. You have to be born with it.
