A timelapse message from ISS to all Humankind --Further Up Yonder

“Further Up Yonder” timelapse video was compiled by film-making student Giacomo Sardelli by using pictures taken from the International Space Station to tell a story and share the message sent by the astronauts who worked on the station in the last 11 years. This is his first attempt to craft a timelapse video, and an excellent one, we must say!

The International Space Station circles Earth every 92 minutes.

Easy for him to say considering he has lived a life of privilege (through chance and through hard work) in a culture that has made it relatively easy for him to achieve what he has. However, I would surmise that he has never struggled day-to-day for his mere existence as one of the have-nots that comprise about 3/4 of the population of the earth.

Making such grandiose statements from his privileged perch 200 miles up that only ~500 of Earth's citizens have experienced (out of the planet's 7 BILLION population) may sound eloquent and almost poetic, but it ignores the facts of life as they are on the surface of the planet. Kind of reminds me of the Hollywood jet-setters (that would be of the Gulfstream variety) that live in multi-million dollar mansions and in lavish style but are constantly running their sewers about how everyone else should help the underprivileged.

But it's an interesting video nonetheless!

Well, yeah. Borders would have to be 1000ft wide and filled with magma to be seen up there. But they are still very real.
