Today the RAAF second C-17 was handed over at Long Beach, California.

So two delivered and two more to go; however they should have bought five.

Why?

Congrats to the RAAF and Boeing on the delivery of this amazing aircraft. With Australia being so isolated from the rest of the world, the C-17 will definitely prove to be massive asset to the RAAF.

I can't wait to see the Maple Leaf on a CC-17.

I think you answered your own question.

The ADF is now focused on deployments around the world and having the ability to deploy the C-17 has been a huge increase to our capabilities. For its size the RAAF is exceptional in the areas it is committed and it's professionalism is second to none.

The extra airplane provides more flexibility when one or more are down for maintenance or mods. Canada could use another one, too.

The US Congress and USAF also need to order more C-17s, and NATO needs to firm up it's order for 4, even though they should order 6.
