I suppose chances are quite high that due to the economical crisis the Airborne Laser program will be postponed or even cancelled by the Obama administration next year.
Has anybody got some news on that?

I suppose it depends on how far along the program is. It is not inexpensive to cancel a defense contract, so if the program is tracking to plan, it would likely be counterproductive to cancel it at this time.
Also, the ABL has a number of benefits as an ABM platform which is a threat that the US might not be facing at home, but could face abroad. As such, it might actually be considered a priority program by the DoD which would help insulate it from cost-cutting measures.

Your words make much sense.
We´ll see, some major projects on the US defence budget will certainly be slashed. It was blown up so extremely in recent years (+ 100% during GWBs reign, despite employing less soldiers) that it cant be justified further, not under the current conditions.
