I saw an aircraft that had its propellers at the tips of its wings over Manhattan around 7PM today (Monday May 25th). Could it have been an Osprey? Is not the Osprey still being tested?

Osprey is alive and well. See them at least once a week practicing approaches into EWN. They're based at NCA (New River MCAS). Believe a squadron may be deployed to Al Asad.

There in service, and have been deployed to Iraq. It's Fleet Week in New York so it's possible there was a fly by.

It did a flyover for the Mets game tonight. There's two of them at TEB for fleet week.

And there was a air show over at Jones Beach this weekend. I didn't go, but it might of been flying in the air show.

Very much around and out of the testing stage. They are now actually being experimented on off the amphib decks but last I heard, they were melting the black-top with the lengthy load times.

You saw the one that did a flyby of the Mets game tonight. From what I hear, after it flew over Citi Field, it turned west and crossed right over Midtown, then up the Hudson back to Teterboro. It was one of two Ospreys parked at Teterboro for Fleet Week.

Would have been great to see, but unfortunately they didn't make an appearance at the air show.

Did the Canadian Snowbirds fly in this years air show? I think I saw in the paper that they would be flying. I was at last years show but couldn't make it this year.

Yes they did - flew on Friday practice and Saturday's show. Sunday they didn't fly - with the low vis in the morning, the show was delayed and compressed, and they were bumped from the schedule.

They are back in town for Fleet Week. They have several MAGTF demos planned throughout the area over the next few days.

I saw one over Doylestown, PA, (KDYL) about 6 p.m. on 5-25. I thought maybe it was shooting approaches at NAS Willow Grove.
