I have these old soviet epaulets that I got from a relative of mine in russia about 8 years ago. Lately a friend of mine told me it would be a shitty idea to sew them into this new jacket I bought, but instead find somebody who knows whats so special about them (because apparently, they're special). So what can you tell me about what these and the insignia/ranking/history/etc.?

Well the rank is a Lt. Colonel (if they were small stars it would be a Lt.), with airforce or navy aviator device. I am not sure what the green color and blue strips signify.

Quoting BladeLWS (Reply 2): Those boards could be KGB State Security.
Yeap, it is a KGB LtCol. flyer (pilot or navigator), I would not wear them in public.
