Will We See 777 Flying Military Charters Soon?

I knotest most of the military charter flights out of NGU, are 763 or maybe a MD11 or DC10. Now I wonder, is their a chance we will see a T-7 on these military charter flights soon. With T-7 getting older, some will be retired in a few years and charter airlines will pick then up.

Both DL and AA have used the B-777-200ER on military charter flights.

I've seen DL 777Lr's here in KWI about four times in the last month. The scheduled carriers don't do too many AMC movements because the schedules are so fluid, but maybe you'll get lucky in NGU

Most of the military charters out of NGU support the Navy in the Atlantic, Med, and Persian Gulf. Since a typical flight makes many stops (Say Lajes, Souda, Bahrain, and Djibouti then reverse route for the trip home) they don't need much range. The military rotator flights just don't need the range or capacity of a 777

I worked my first 777 (Continental) military charter 8 or 9 years ago at Osan. Not a rotator, just a one off to support an exercise.

In 1996 I made a flight in a chartered DC-8 from PHL to Lajes to NAS SIgonella to Bahrain to Diego Garcia. I believe it was the same on the way back and it operated weekly(?). I was given the option to go back that way or take a KC-10 to Singapore and come home the long way. Obviously I just HAD to take the KC-10 to get an 'around the world' trip.

AA currently has a 777 doing military charters until September.
