Air Force One In Harrisburg (MDT) Today (5/19/10)?

While driving west from Lancaster to Harrisburg on 283, I spotted a lumbering hulk of an A/C that had a pain scheme similar to AF1. Just wondering if anyone else spotted it and might know if it was, in fact, AF1.

The President did not leave Washington today so you did not see AF1.

You might have seen one of the VC-25 aircraft which frequently becomes AF1 when the President is aboard. we can only track them by spotter reports.

Are you sure it was a B747 and not one of the B757 or B737 painted similarly?

They regularly use MDT for practice with the VC-25, I've seen it dozens of times. I was home and assumed that's what it was when I heard it. While I haven't kept up with the news lately, it wouldn't surprise me if the president is headed somewhere in the next week or two.

The VC-25 visited MDT twice on the 19th. They come up once or twice a week for practice approaches. This is nothing unusual for MDT.

Sounds like it is back again today. Broken layer at 020 and I'm far enough away that it's back up in the clouds when it passes overhead.

Shortly after the earlier post I did see a KC10, that might have been the source of the noise today.

The KC-10's from McGuire AFB are coming over to MDT more frequently.
