Hello All:

A buddy of mine spotted this C-17 at ISP a few months ago and just stumbled across this picture now. Since I am not all that familiar with Military Aviation, can anyone tell me where this one is based out of, and also the "Ship No." or what ever else it might be referred to seems to be 04-4120, could anyone confirm?

I can't see the picture that well but there is no C-17 that is serialed 04-4120. I am thinking that it says 4128 on the front I can definitely see the "412", but I can't see if that is a 0 or 8 for 4th digit.

For transports military usually lists the last 5 digits on the tail, so in this case it would say 44128, but the tail number is blurred but it looks like the first number is 4

I did a search on this site for C-17s that end in 4120 and found none so this is likely a 4128

04-4128/4138 Boeing C-17A Globemaster III
c/n P-128/P-138.
4129 (c/n P-129) was formerly 05-0129
4130 -- Plane marked as 44130 seen at RAF Mildenhall, UK. This may be 04-4130, which may
be 05-4130 (P-130) reserialled. This is correct
4131 named "Spirit of Thomas B. McGuire"
4138 is "Spirit of California". Delivered to 452nd AMW/AFRC Aug 9, 2005.
04-4139 was reserialed 05-5139

This aircraft would be military serial numbered: 04-4128, which is kind of the military equivelent to the "N" number

The construction number McDonnell Douglas/Boeing has for it is P-128

As for where it is based I can tell it says McGuire on the tail, which is McGuire AFB in New Jersey.

The Joe Baugher site is incorrect on one point; I've sent several messages correcting him, but he seems to have dropped off the face of the earth with updating his stuff. 4129 was always as such, it was never serialed as an 05 model, neither was 4130. He is right about 4139 being reseialed as 5139.
I can't tell if thats an 8 or a 9 to be honest with you. McGuire has the following assigned to them; 03-3125, 3126, 3127, 04-4128, 4129, 4130, 4131, 4132, 4133, 4134, 4135, 4136, 4137, 08-8198, 8199 and 8200

Baugher is behind on his newer ones 2008 and newer.

I emailed him about C-17 08-8204 I saw at MCO the other day coming in, because he didn't have it yet. I sent him a picture for proof, he said he was going to add it.

He doesn't have many 09 or 10 aircraft yet.

08 model C-17s are 08-8190-8204
8190, 8191 and 8204 belong to Charleston
8192-8197 and 8201-8203 belong to McChord
8198-8200 as stated above belong to McGuire.
09-9205-9212 are to be determined but 9205 is Charlestons, and its assumed that the rest of the 09 models are going there since Wright-Patterson is going to get 01 models from them.
09-0207 (not to be confused with 09-9207), is the 7th UK bird ZZ-177 which made its first flight this morning.
2010 serials haven't been confirmed, but they are assumed to be 10-0213-0222
No serials have been made yet for the 6 going to the UAE either.
