French AF A340-300's..... For What?

I was just reading the French Air Force are getting two A340-300's, do any of you know what for .... VIP, Tankers ??

Probably for a similar reason the US has DC10's/MD11's. I would bet they use them for tankers or transports.

They will be operated by the Escadron de Transport 03.060 "Estérel" and certainly based at Paris - Charles de Gaulle, with République française titles.
But they won't have a VIP interior.

All that according to a French AF member.

If you want to convert a A340 to a tanker, the -200 is probably a wiser choice.
