China is accelerating delivery of 50 JF-17 'Thunder' multi-role fighter aircraft worth about $1B. This aircraft had been in joint development since 1999 and is expected now to be delivered in 6 months. The total number planned for acquisition is 250. This was announced on P.M. Gilani's visit to celebrate 60 years of Pak-China "All-Weather Friendship" (unlike "Fair-Weather Friendship"?)
Quote: "Came across an image on the Chinese internet of what appears to be the Chengdu J-10B. Remarkably the radome is open, showing what could well be an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar. Though the developmental J-20 has received all the attention this year, it is the J-10A and J-10B that will be the mainstay of the PLAAF in the coming decades - and an effective AESA radar for the B version has the potential to be a significant force multiplier."

Quoting YTZ (Reply 4): I always wonder how the Americans can stand the Pakistanis buying Chinese kit with their aid dollars.
It's not going to happen for much longer. The Pakistanis are doing everything in their power to create a conflict with the US. With China growing in power and influence, perhaps they see them as a replacement sugar daddy.
