Not a good week for US aircraft. F-16 crash in Nevada killed a USAFA grad last weekend, and a QF-4 down a few days ago in NM while manned, luckily the pilot ejected safely.

Whats a pilot doing in a drone?
Is it for shakedown before its allowed to fly without one? Just curious, I'm laughing away to myself about the computer sweating about qualifying for solo flight

Agreed, and I've known for a long time this to be true... though I don't know the reasons why. Down here in FL you get to see QF-4's from Tyndall AFB, FL quite often and frequently its the one painted up in Vietnam era camouflage... which may be the squadron commanders but not sure. Late June of this year I was on a road trip thru the pandhandle, stopped on the side of the road in Pt. St. Joe on the Gulf Coast and what did I see doing a nice, low sweeping turn back towards Tyndall? That camo'ed QF-4. Made my day
