Both of the crew lived (amazingly) and noone on the ground died either.
After the low speed pass his cyclic climb looked... off. I wonder if he just didn't get as much altitude as he thought he would before doing the 180 and just ran out of it.

Could have something to do with the altitude as well. Did not have as much power available as he thought he would.

Do you see the guy on the ground at 0:25? First standing with both arms in the air, then hitting the deck. Very close to dead. Closer than the pilots.
Also all the other soldiers just left of the crash swathe. Jeebus. Could've taken out what looks like 8-10 guys on the ground. They're all lucky the rotors stayed on during the first impact.

That footage will be seen at every unit's safety day this year. The goal is not to be "that guy".

Quoting Oroka (Reply 2): On the other hand, crashing while showboating... he may be flying a desk shortly.
Specifically a civilian desk.....showboating causes that.

He knew he was in trouble before he hit.
If you look closely at the moments before the crash you can see the main blades coning. You have to be pulling a lot of power to get them to do that.

Amazing is not a word I would use to describe this video. Disgraceful is more appropriate, that fool could have killed a dozen of his colleagues while trying to look cool. Dishonourable discharge heading his direction I would assume.
I would of hoped that the US army trained their troops better than this. Being aware of how the altitude affects the aircrafts performance is essential.....somewhere in Afghanistan some allied troops may not receive fire support as the US forces are now less an AH-64.

His next assignment will be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog poop out of HK.
That is a 2 man aircraft. Will only the pilot be disciplined or will the gunner be facing charges as well?

The guy in front may if he didn't protest but I don't remember if he has controls up front.
If they got him on the CVR saying, "Doit" he is hosed too.
I'm an Army accident investigation all paths lead to pilot error

The video is amazing. The pilots actions were unconscionable.

I'm pretty sure that the front seater doesn't have controls. In any case it is my opinion that the gunner won't be punished.
