ATVs are becoming "routine" already, but I am especially fond of this one because of her namesake: Edoardo Amaldi was one of the "Panisperna boys", a group of physicists and chemists that discovered slow neutrons in 1934, paving the way to practical nuclear technology. Enrico Fermi of Manhattan Project fame (and Nobel laureate), Amaldi's teacher and mentor, was also one of them.
Amaldi was one of the inspirators of CERN and one of the earliest proponents of an European space organisation.

Well done, gals and guys at ESA! You would have made old uncle Edo proud... and you sure made quite a few Italians proud as well (that's no small feat, nowadays...). Thank you!
