I had an opportunity to drive out on the ramp to see the shuttle yesterday. Awesome experience and hope you all enjoy!

PS... sorry I didn't have my good camera on me as this was last minute and could only take cellphone pics. Also, you can click to enlarge a bit

By the way, if anyone wants to "attempt" to take some photos, it is still located in this hangar. You can see over/through the fence a bit just enough to see the tail sticking out from the rear of the hangar.

Its off of a service road so you can try to pull over quickly to see it, but PA PD drives by often and may kick you out of there.

Space Shuttle Enterprise Arrives In New Jersey En Route To Intrepid

On Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m., the Enterprise will depart from Elizabeth, passing the Statue of Liberty at 9:50 a.m. and the World Trade Center at 10:40 a.m. before completing it’s journey to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum at 11:30 a.m., where it will be hoisted onto the flight deck.

There was a minor accident during today’s movement; a wind gust caused the shuttle to graze a wood piling near a bridge, resulting in minor cosmetic damage.

You can watch Enterprise being craned on the deck of the aircraft carrier. It's happening right now as I am typing this post.

Intrepid is preparing our Flight Deck for the arrival of space shuttle Enterprise.
Each day from 7am - 7pm EST, you can check out the work being done on the Webcam.
To zoom in, roll your mouse over the bottom left corner of the screen

Installed just now.

Good pictures Moose. Thank you for posting.

Time flies.

For Concorde, a Far Slower Ride At a Much Lower Altitude

As aviation passages go, the chilly late-morning ceremony was one filled with patriotism and a fair bit of supersonic lust by gray-haired male speakers. ''It certainly is the sexiest machine I've ever seen,'' said Tom Tyrrell, the museum's chief executive. She was ''a gorgeous bird,'' said James G. Kennedy, a construction magnate, who was not alone in assigning the supersonic jet gender.

25 November 2003

I was there that day. I caught a couple of rides to the Statue of Liberty to see the barge navigating.
The whole thing looked odd. Nothing I was used to seeing.
I still have the original New York Times from the day and from the day after.

No Space Shuttle will ever equal Concorde's beauty.
