Found this interesting piece of news this morning. A Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was found in Egypt after it was last seen in 1942. Found this on several sites but the Daily Mail appears to have the best pictures.

Reminds me of the B-24D "Lady Be Good" (41-24301) found in the desert in Lybia in 1958. She got lost returning to North Africa on 4 April 1943 from a bombing mission to Naples, Italy. In 1960 the USAF set out to find the remains of the crew, who walked to the north after parachuting before the crash. Eventually remains of 8 of the 9 crewmembers aboard her were found by the US Army, USAF, and British oil exploration teams.

That was the first thought I had when I heard about this story. Poor sod probably thought he'd be rescued, but when no help came went for a hike. Dehydration in that climate doesn't take long to set in...

There's some video of the plane shot I assume when they discovered it. Those were some great photos in that Daily Mail link. Much better than what was shown on the US morning news shows here.

I saw the news pop up on several site but most had little or no pictures so i was pretty amazed to find the ones the Daily Mail had online. Suppose most media didn't consider it an item so figured i'd share my find.
I believe in coincidences. Coincidences happen every day. But I don't trust coincidences.
