Huffington Post today has an article with mock-ups on the new paint scheme for one of the Royal Canadian Air Force CC-Polaris (Airbus A310) used for dignitary transport, including delegations by the Prime Minister. I like the final design, although the front entry doorway seems a bit plain. It would benefit from a coat of arms or something.

Do not want... honestly it is ugly to me.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Looks like crap. At least update the interior of those things, just horrible, horrible seats.

They are headed in the right direction with the polished metal/chrome look, IMHO, but their design sketches definitely need more work. Best thing to do is have public works draw up a contract that Canadian artists and painters can bid on. Then a joint committee (not the Prime Minister's Office) can choose the best livery for a reasonable price. This is an RCAF aircraft that belongs to the Crown, not the Prime Minister, and it should be treated as such.

No matter how random things may appear, there's always a plan.

The designer of this layout is Jim Belliveau, the guy who does all the super awesome CF-18 paint schemes from Cold Lake every other year (I think a guy from Bagotville does the off years). I know he could come up with some spectacular schemes but is limited to political approval.

I kind of like the existing livery. If they actually made the maple leaf red like you Canucks love to throw on everything the original livery would be great.

The old white with red stripe on the 707 was nice. I do not mind the existing one although a bit too much grey. This one-- blue? It looks like a conservative party election plane. Canada colours people recognize are red and white. Do a white body with big letters saying Canada like the government logo and mini flag over the "a" and a flag on the back (maybe like BA) and coat of arms on engines. then again it may smell too AC like.

there is economy class, business class, first class...then Concorde..pure class

I dont think we are the people who gets the choice!

I personally think a white variation of the current scheme would be nice, with a big red stripe and a traditional blue and red RCAF roundel, maybe use the chrome belly and engines to class it up a bit. Maybe some RCAF tartan on the tail to sexy it up a bit.

Actually, getting the public to choose wouldn't be a half bad idea. It's a Crown asset, the taxpayers definitely deserve a say in the matter. The Harper government is perceived, and rightly so IMHO, as deceptive and untrustworthy in military spending as of late. If the Harper Cabinet has any sense, they would open this project to local artists to submit their work and let the public choose via an online poll or something. Better yet, they could go into the schools/universities and engage the young people of this country instead. It would definitely be a great PR tool for both the government and the military.

Spending money that is within the budget on equipment that will modernize the Canadian Forces....seems highly deceptive.   IMHO, your average Canadian should just stay out of Military equipment purchases and concentrate more on how much the DND gets, not what.

I assume the airplane will be painted during the normal scheduled repaint? I like the tails with the flying Canadian Flag with the northern lights above it.

I thought all of the CC-150s were also doubled as tankers. Is that not correct? If it is true then these would also be combat aircraft, along with their transport duties, so keeping them gray with subdued markings makes more sense.

Why can't the PM charter an AC airliner when he goes abroad on official trips, like the British PM does?

Of the 5 in service, 4 of them received conversions into combi's, and of the 4, only 2 were converted into CC-150 MRTT's (we tagged onto the Luftwaffe's conversion of their A310 aircraft). The 1 that wasn't converted into a combi was modified as a VIP aircraft.
