Just noticed this picture, and the description says that it is an Indian Air Force Bombardier Global 5000, and is carrying an Israeli registration. I don't recall having read much on the web about this, and couldn't find much useful information. Contrary to the Embraer legacy order a few years ago which was announced in the press, this one seems very quiet. And since it is wearing an Israeli registration, I am guessing that it might be spending some time there to get some systems installed. Anyone know anything about this? Has the Indian AF ordered anything similar to the Eitam or Sentinel?

Thanks..

Without the visible distributed active arrays that the IAF supposedly wants, it looks like a regular government VIP jet for smaller delegations.

With the word "EXPERIMENTAL" near the door, it is possible that ECMs and comms are being tested for that plane.

Aren't the Legacies around the same size as these? Why the need for a second type when the Legacies aren't that old?
They operate a few ELINT Gulfstreams. Could this be a replacement? Though I believe even those were upgraded recently..

I had seen that. However, usually there's a lot more fanfare, at least in the defence press, when firm orders or deliveries take place. This one seems to be a delivery, and it seems kinda strange to me. I also read somewhere (8 hours ago, but for the life of me I cant retrieve the link, sorry) that it was originally meant for a customer in Malta. Anyway, thanks for your reply, I'll keep digging.

I'd hazard a guess that the reason could be commercial/political in nature.

And yes... there's always the possibility that it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Now that you mention it, I see the roundel is wrong. I know wiki isn't the most reliable of sources, but the Indian AF is listed as a customer for this type over there. Curious.
