First off - thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by this dispicable crime in Newtown, Connectitcut. Such a horrible and senseless act, and such beautiful children taken from thier families way to young.
With Obama traveling up to the memorial service up there this evening, I was curious as to where Air Force One flew into this evening.

Sometimes, the Secret Service uses the "Greyhound One" (not the real name) secured busses to ferry the president and his officers around. There are two built, with a lot of the requisite security and communications subsystems installed.
It would make sense to use one of these secured busses, as they are easier to transport from one point to another, especially when the travel distance is not that great and does not justify prepping Air Force One, it's support aircraft, crew and accessories for a very short range mission.
You can probably get images of the busses online if you look around, and some of what went into the outer bullet-proofing shell - it was done by the same people who secure the presidential limos and other White House vehicles.

Quoting Revelation (Reply 6): Interesting. That's a lot further away than SWF. Maybe they didn't want to have a TFR that shut down a lot of the NYC airspace?
That may be part of it. The weather was pretty poor at the time too. Since they brought the President down in a motorcade maybe they thought it would be easier to coordinate with state police for the escort. Only going through one state rather than NY and CT. Though it would be quicker by car. Newtown is only about 5 minutes from me and it take about 55 minutes for me to get down from BDL. Going to the speed limit of course .
