An An-72 operated by Kazakstan's air force has crashed near Shimkent, in the south of the country, killing all 27 on board, including the recently appointed head of the country's intelligence services.
According to reports, the aircraft fell rapidly from a height of about 800m and "rescuers were not needed".

Third world aviation strikes again, unfortunately. It's interesting that it was an AN-72, which is quite an unusual aircraft. I thought it was mostly a novelty and not something commonly used by militaries.
