I was at the airshow in Muskegon, Michigan July 4-6. Each day they had a stealth flyover. Anyone know where that plane came from? Is that it's only flight of the day?

Do you mean the B-2? They're based at Whiteman AFB, Missouri.

The F-117 Nighthawks are based at Holloman AFB, New Mexico.

I forget,

What year did the Nighthawks transfer from Nellis to Holloman?

The F-117s never were based at Nellis, they were based at the Tonopah Test Range, NV , and then were moved to Holloman in May, 1991.

This was a F-117.

So the plane flies all the way from New Mexico to Michigan and back for a 5 minute flyover at an airshow? I am not objecting; I thought it was great! I am just impressed if that is the case.

If there was a flyover each day, maybe they stayed somewhere nearby for the duration of the airshow. I seem to recall a B-1B flying all the way to Europe and back for a single flyover at some airshow.

F-117's will often "stage" somewhere near an airshow or even fly from the airport where the show is held. When I was at the Tyndall AFB show in 2002, an F-117 took off, made a pass or two, proceeded north about 200 miles to make some passes at another show, then returned--a B-1 did the same thing that day.

As for the B-2, very rarely will they park at a show--unless it's a really big show with proper security(i.e. the USAF 50th anniversary show at Nellis) Typically, they fly from Whiteman, make the pass, then fly home. I would assume they probably do some training as a part of the flight to help justify the expense.
