This photo was taken at the Bay of pigs museum in Cuba. I knew about the bombers that were used by CIA operatives, but fail to identify this arcraft type...

Hmmmmh well I don't think so, it is displayed alongside bits of the B26 bomber that was shot down back in '61...
The friend who took the picture also shot bits of that too... I agree it looks unusual, and I know a lot about planes but couldn't quite figure it out...

I've been torturing the search engine and google for an hour trying to figure this one out... you're smarter than me!
Wonder what the history is behind that plane... did get to read up a lot on the B26s though... and the fact that they got shot at/shot down by their own side. There's a CIA report that has now been disclosed that reveals that the "fake" cuban markings may have been a bit too real.

Quoting chuchoteur (Reply 8): That fixed landing gear was really bothering me, I'm reassured knowing that it is more of a seaplane design than a landplane lol
The Kingfisher was a scout plane that served mostly as a seaplane aboard battleships and cruisers for observation duties. Obviously, such planes were rendered obsolete by much more useful helicopters.
Why do Aerospace Engineering students have to turn things in on time?

Even in their prime land gear wearing kingfishers where a pretty rare bunch. But they have always had a soft spot for net because of their use in the Aleutians as described in the book, "the thousand mile war"
Reminds me a story about a guy in southeast Alaska that when he saw his first beaver on wheels said, "that must have been a terrible accident, how many where killed"
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.
