Article in italian only.

4x F16 aircraft out of Aviano (Italy) were flying a training mission over the adriatic sea, flying as 2 pairs of aircraft.

1x of the aircraft radioed that it had a "problem". The communication was received by his wingman, who was unable to follow the stricken F16 down as they were not flying in visual conditions.

The search area is roughly 10 miles offshore, and rescue operations are under way.
*Fingers crossed for the pilot.

After more than 15 hours since the crash occurred, nothing has been found by the rescuers with the exception of a large fuel spot.

Nothing encouraging so far...

Fragments of a carbon fiber panel have been found today by a Coast Guard ship.

Still no news about the pilot...

The latest info in Croatia is that the pilot still hasn't been found (the search is continuing with fresh vessels).

No plane, no gain.

The pilot has been named by the Air Force as Capt. Lucas Gruenther of the 31st Fighter Wing, based at Aviano Air Base in Italy.

Not looking good

It was on the Italian news last night that a parachute was found in the water. Capt Gruenther is still missing. Its pretty somber around these parts.
