4x F16 aircraft out of Aviano (Italy) were flying a training mission over the adriatic sea, flying as 2 pairs of aircraft.
1x of the aircraft radioed that it had a "problem". The communication was received by his wingman, who was unable to follow the stricken F16 down as they were not flying in visual conditions.
The search area is roughly 10 miles offshore, and rescue operations are under way.
