Super Tucano Armament and Refueling

Hi all

I have been thinking about this bird a lot recently, since it is such a nice cheap fighter/bomber. One question that has me puzzled is aerial refueling, which probably would be easiest done USAF style with a boom? I can't really see a pull prop and a probe mix well ...

my second question is whether one could substitute the 12.7 mm guns with the 13.5 mm Russian

my far distant third question is a navalized STOBAR version with folding wings

does anybody have any ideas/comments?

Not too sure about cheap...

That's really puzzling unless one wants to drag STs across a vast distance for a very critical mission

May be possible with a bit of modification...but why go through all the trouble for a little increase in firepower?

Now, this has me stumped thinking of a suitable carrier

. Maybe they could reactivate LHA-1 as the Emb-314 doesn't need a very long flight deck?

.....though am not aware of any other tanker (TP or helo) similarly fitted. In any case, highly doubtful the ST could handle the fuel flow.

Additionally, there's hardly space on the ST for a receptacle...where the boom wouldn't run afoul of the prop...so a refueling probe and a boom with an adapter might be needed anyway...thus bringing the whole setup back to your original quandary.

Incidentally, the Emb-314's qualities are reaffirmed.....
