I recently came across this article. One of Canada's CC-150 Polaris aircraft, 150001 is being repainted from grey colour to a new white, red and blue colour scheme. I personally think it looks pretty good, but I was also a fan of the grey combat colour scheme as well. While this article is quite critical of the $50,000 price tag, it include some nice pictures of the new scheme and some of the rejected options.
AFAIK, none of the Polaris aircraft have the VIP config as a permanent fixture, 150003 has been used for VIP ops as well. But with 4 CC-144 being retired, I'm sure the Polaris fleet will be utilized to a greater extent.

150001 is primarily a VIP jet because it's the sole passenger CC-150. The other 4 are all combi's, with 2 converted to MRTT's. It will be a good looking aircraft once it comes out of the paint shop.

I liked the bare metal and wavy flag design better. The design they decided on looks too much like a CPC campaign plane, and will probably catch a lot of heat from the media. I can already see the headlines from the Ottawa Citizen: "Harper Force One". It seems that the language police got a hold of the final design too.

No formal replacement plan is in place for the CC-150's, but I bet there are some lower level studies at NDHQ about a future replacement.

I thought all 5 CC-150s were combi aircraft. Thanks for the clarification. So I guess when they use 03 for VIP ops, they just re-config the jet for pax? Or can the VIP kit be moved out of 01?
I bet replacing the CC-150s is a very low priority at this point. We still need new SAR and Maritime surveillance planes. Not to mention the $ they spent on the MRTT conversion.

While I like the grey low viz scheme of the CC-150s, Jim Belliveau is the man behind the design (and possibly the actual paint job) of the new look, and that man has an airbrush made of gold pressed latinum! He is the guy behind pretty much all the awesome CF-18 paint jobs over the years.

Seems to me that 50k CDN wouldn't even cover the cost of one coast-to-coast airplane jaunt of the PM and entourage and the resulting pisser at the far end. Seems the citizenship are getting their knickers in a bunch about the wrong issue, IMHO.

150001 isn't a very luxurious aircraft; its been compared to an Winnebago in terms of how its kitted. It simply contains a bedroom, shower and computer work stations. It's always permanently configured as a VIP aircraft.
The other aircraft can be equipped in a passenger configuration as required.

Very low priority; the aircraft are still good well into 2020's. Very lightly used, and very well cared for.

I agree, but I totally understand why it's not ideal to have a primarily diplomatic aircraft painted that way. The American VC-137s were painted in a high viz bare metal and orange scheme before switching (new planes actually I think) to the Loewy designed blue and white scheme.
Why do Aerospace Engineering students have to turn things in on time?

Dumb. If they're changing from the gray they should use the same sceme they used on every previous RCAF transport- gray/bare metal belly, white top, red & white cheater strip, red white & blue roundel. The current gray sceme is actually just a "monochrome" version of that anyway.

But they are not changing from gray. The one CC-150 that flys harper around and is in VIP config is being given a custom paint job to enhance the image of Canada when it is flying around, rather than having our PM fly around in a VIP jet painted like a military cargo or tanker jet.
Now, I would love to see the CC-177 painted like the CC-150s!
