I just read this on Warbirds News.

What city will they choose?

I hope they will move to Atlanta!

They aren't moving from Texas, but Midland, Texas.

They could determine that Dallas or Houston may be the best site for their new HQ.

I wonder if this means Hal Fenner has left the building?

Not even that really. It sounds like they want to spread out some of the bigger airplanes but not totally take everything from Midland, which, is a great place to go check out.

The CAF has about 60 'bases' scattered across the United States, where aircraft owners and pilots prefer to have their affiliated aircraft close to home. About 20 of those bases are located in Texas

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum at ADS has a nice collection of aircraft, and worked a deal with the CAF to keep the B-24 Ol'927 and the B-29 Fifi at the museum when they are not on tour.

I've talked to some CAF members over the years, and while they greatly appreciate the reception and relationship with the Midland/Odessa Airport and the people of that community - it is a bit off the beaten track for tourists.

Creating a 'National Airbase' in a major metropolitan area will bring the CAF to more people, making it easier to attract the necessary level of funding to keep the aircraft maintained.

Use to be if you wanted to see the CAF hangar in Hobbs, you'd track down whoever had the key and borrow it. It was a hell of an place to wander around in alone for a while.
