Navy P8 In The Tampa / Clearwater Area

Yesterday, (May 16th) while I was walking my dogs I looked up to see a Navy P8 flying overhead and saw it pass over several time while I was in the park.


From it's flight path i'm guessing it was doing touch and goes at PIE, anyone have more info on what this fairly rare bird was doing down here ?

Well the first squadrons have been equipped at Jacksonville NAS, they're probably looking for a nice place for some touch and goses.

I was going to guess practicing AShM attack runs on the Scientologist ship off the coast, but your suggestion makes more sense.
