In July 1913, two ships left England destined to form the Royal Australian Navy ..There was, however, no doubt that the departing ships were "Australian" warships. Immediately after the cheers for the official party, a rating perched astride one of "HMAS" Australia's eight 12-inch guns shouted, 'Three cheers for Wallaby Land'... joining other ships before entering Sydney harbour in October 1913.

I am currently in SYD until Nov 2 and was at the harbour for the IFR and it was an amazing day. The flyovers were rather cool and the two RAN helicopters that kicked off the fireworks with their flares was a nice touch.
