A news broadcast tonight mentioned an incident involving a Mexican Air Foce "Marlin C26" radar/reconnaisance plane. I have never heard of this type of aircraft, so I looked it up in various sites, to no avail.

Does anybody know if this is a military version of other well-known civil a/c?

I looked in my sourcebook. The Mexican Air Force does not have any aircraft called "Marlin C26".

Theres a chance that they might have been refering to the Fairchild Merlin C-26A" The Civil version is the Fairchild Metro III.

As of Jan 2004 the Mexican Air Force had 6 in service.

Or you could have heard Merlin.

The Merlins are to Metro's as King Airs are to 1900's.

The Merlin IVC is actually a Metro fitted out as a Biz-prop.
