I bet it was 57-2589. It's a KC-135 converted for VIP transport. 707s haven't been in the inventory for some time, especially as a presidential transport.

We have several 707s still in the inventory, though only one VC-137 (that is normally not used for Prez transport now).
We have 32 E-3B/Cs, 16 E-8s, several Navy E-6Bs and 2 TC-18s, plus an E-3 test bed, and '707' test bed.

The Speckled Trout C-135 (a tad smaller than the 707) does often have various Blue and White paint schemes. That could have been the plane as well.

For such an old aircraft, that thing looks pretty damn cool.

it looks so clean, as if it was manufactured yesterday.

A former tanker as a VIP transport, novel idea.

What kinda VIP gets that as a transport? If President gets a 747, and the VP gets a 757...

I didn't know there were any full-bodied 707s left in the fleet? Hmm.. learn something new every day. I thought even the E-3s were smaller than the standard 707. Hey, Lt-AWACS, you get a promotion recently? I noticed at Capt in front of your signature!

Howdy, the E-3s are standard 707-320s airframes (with of course our large frisbee on top). The E-3s, and E-6s are the newest build 707 airframes with the last coming off in 1991. The 1 VC-137 will be going away soon, according to some MX "peeps" I know. The E-8 J-Stars are all rebuild TC-18s, RCAF 707s, or South American cattle haulers  Smile

I got promoted a year ago but you can't change my handle, no big deal. I type the same format sig on all my forums. Habit  Smile

Thanks amigo, 4 years no felonies  Big grin

Sidenote: There is a VIP painted C-135 at the aircraft static gate at Tinker AFB -you can see it along I-40 in Midwest City near OKC.

I remember a few years ago (97, 98?) that President Clinton was traveling on one of his transport planes, and it got stuck in the mud. I think it was not the usual VC-25, but a VC-137 he was on. Anyone else remember this?

Captain777: The USAF Chief of Staff uses that airplane often. He's a potential passenger.

- Are you talking about the time that Gore and Clinton had appearances at the same time at the same place in Illinois? They had both the 757s (I can not remember the Air Force designator, possibly a VC-32? but I know there are two at Andrews, A.F.B.), one of them in each and Gore's flight left first. Clinton's plane had a problem and Gore's plane had to come back. Gore got off his plane and Clinton got on board and off they went. I want to say it was either Champaign or Bloomington, Illinois. I have a friend of mine that on the ground there waiting for clearance during all of that. He was delayed getting out of there by at least an hour.

You should see the smoke the E-3 puts out  Smile 4 TF-33s  Smile

I've been to Kuwait Int'l and such mainly transiting to Prince Sultan in Al Kharj Saudi Arabia, where we used to be. Now that PSAB is closed (or back to the Saudis) we are all home at Tinker. We also go to other bases in OMan and Qatar. Never really Kuwait though. I honestly don't know who it could be, but various combatant commanders use AF 757s, or C-37 for transport. I know the Speckled Trout is used for PACAF transport often as well.

Ciao, and Hook 'em Horns,
Capt-AWACS, King of Belize
