That's an RC-135U, based at Offut AFB Nebraska. I've never seen one in Australia, and the best news is, I'm moving to Adelaide in a week!!!!!!

great shots! Is Adelaide usually this busy with USAF heavies? What sort of military traffic comes through there? What sort of civil traffic? And why would this aircraft not be transiting through RAAF Edinburgh? Very keen to know.....

There is usually very little military traffic. The civil traffic is mostly Qantas and Virgin Blue 737s.

Just flew into Adelaide two days ago- didn't see it a the airport. Do you know if it's still here? Would love to see it up close- if possible. I've got a pic of one of these birds at Mildenhall in the late 80's and it was under armed guard! Obviously not the case in Adelaide- we're too laid back...
