Last week (the week of August 23rd...sorry, I can't remember the exact day) I saw a Transall C-160 heading Northbound over Southern Rhode Island, taking the same path as PVD approaches from the South. As far as I know, the USA does not have C-160s in its armed forces, but I have noticed that German C-160s have been spotted in Toronto. Anybody have any idea what this international military transport was doing over RI (either approaching Quonset ANG Base or Providence T.F. Green Airport)?

Hi!
I don't if this helps but we have C-160's from German Air Force landing regulary at Azores on tech. stops. I think there is quite a fluid movement of German airplanes passing the pond, but I must agree a Transall in US skies is always a great event. And did you notice a slow they fly????
regards

Come down to West Texas some time, around Holloman AFB. There seems to almost always be one or two around due to the large German Air Force contingent at Ft. Bliss/Holloman.
