Looks that Portugal is in the mood to shopping. This time is regarding fire-fighting equipment. According to the latest news Portugal will FINNALLY purchase airplanes to fight the seasonal fires that have been spreading specially in the last 2 years. They didn't tell what type of airplane will come but the media presumes that it will come from the Canadair CL215/415 family.

Better late than never! Remembering last year's forest fires (destroying almost 10% of the country's surface, if I'm not mistaken), I think it's about time. Any idea how many planes will be bought?

I scratch my head, therefore I am.

Noop, there's no numbers yet, but for me less than 6 airplanes will be a non sense taking in mind that to operate efectively you need to make almost like a "chain" of drops, and if we have simultaneously 2 or 3 fires 6 airplanes will be the minimum possible.
