Max Faget, the Nasa engineer who designed the Mercury capsule, passed away today at age 83.

Max was the also the guy behind the general layout of Gemini, Apollo, and the Shuttle. So we owe the nature of todays manned space program pretty much to him....

DID he design Apollo. I don't think he did. I know he designed the Mercury and Gemini, but Apollo was something entirely different.
