Spirit Embedded In Sand - Mission Over?

I heard from the local media here that MER Spirit has got stuck in sand with all 6 wheels and that it is unclear if it could get out of it.
That would be very disappointing, since Spirit's landing site was much more spectacular than Opportunity's, those images were mind blowing.
I wish the JPL guys the best in their efforts to solve the problem. Anyone have more recent/detailed info on this?

My understanding is that it's Opportunity that's stuck vs Spirit. NASA PAO is being tight lipped though. What I've heard is from the sci.space.* usenet groups

ACK!! NASA Public Affairs! Nasty..... They're the folks that said it was "parked" when in fact it was "stuck". Squyres is the mission scientist and the guy who proposed the mission to NASA -- a much more reliable and quick source of info.  Smile
