Does anyone know about the aurora? It is supposed to be a top secret spy plane developed in the USA and is the fastest aircraft in the world (Mach 5+).
There is little into about it on the internet, as the US have denied its existance, but there are supposed have been sightings both in America and here in the UK. Is is also rumoured to have landed in RAF Macrahenish where only Level 8 security clearance US air force people were allowed to even see it.
A few websites about this are http://www.fas.org/irp/mystery/aurora.htm http://www.abovetopsecret.com/pages/aurora.html
Try doing a search of google for "aurora plane" or something.
I can't say if all of that is true as there are many unconfirmed rumours about this.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Aurora was a codename for B-2A Spirit production funding back in the days when the B-2 was a black project.
At the same time, the US (AF and NASA) were working on hypersonic flight (NASP).
Also at the same time, the SR-71 was suddenly retired because "other assets can do the same job better and more cheaply".
Someone was bound to come up with a conspiracy combining all three into a hypersonic spyplane called Aurora.
The FAS is just the kind of group to do that (their site reads like a collection of all conspiracy theories of the last 50 years).

Yo Speed, don't let Jwenting getcha down, he doesn't think our government lies to us.
Look, the USAF won't give up piloted reconnaisance to spy satelites and UAV's without a fight, Aurora exists, plain and simple. To assume otherwise is ignorant.
BTW, I'm pretty sure it has a structural Vmax @ M9.0, beyond that it would melt or rip apart.

Lehpron, I'm quite confident there are black projects including probably an SR-71 replacement.
That project is not called Aurora though, nor is is that hypersonic thing with pulse-scram engines some people claim to have seen or heard signs of.
All that reminds too much of the fake F-19 invisible superfighter which later turned out to be a elaborate hoax to draw attention away from the real thing which was the F-117. It worked quite well, and seem like it still is working today.
Your government does not lie, it just does not tell everything. They never said there was no new recce aircraft, all that was said is that it is not called Aurora...

Jwenting- True, I agree. However by not telling, then denying existence, and then claiming otherwise doesn't help, especially after something is revealed. It's a bad policy.
Over concealment causes speculation, our government does a terrible job of keeping secrets, they make things so obvious. Like when people used to take pictures of Area 51 from really close by and officals still say nothing is out there, it's quite silly, don't you think?
I still think there is a hypersonic military project out there that killed the NASP back in 1995. I feel there is enough info going around it to make another, if it doesn't exist, why not?
Somebody explain to me why we are still in 1970's aviation technology??!

Does anyone have any other information on this apart from arguing about governments!
Thanks

Sorry Speed, try a search on Yahoo.com with words: Aurora, hypersonic. You'll find REAL sites, be wary of legitimacy; i.e. Aurora has no VSTOL, armament, alien origins, or M10.0+.

This article is old but it shows a need with detailed reason. I'd support any military project that tries to put speed over stealth.
