This isn't quite CivAv-specific, but I know for most of you—those of you whose blood flows for the magic of flight—you will love this video:

If I could control my dreams, I'd be in one of those cockpits every night.  biggrin

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas/happy holidays to all.

Any idea where that is? Southwest desert in US? Outback in Australia? Middle East?

I would guess somewhere in Africa. Those are French AF jets.

It is always fun to "play in the weeds."

This video reminds me of the flight chase over the desert and canyon between the alien ship and a F-18 on "independence day" (movie).....

Have to say these are awesome movies (thanks for the 2nd link ZakHH).... do Mirages have the same or better maneuver capacity as the F-15? I know this is more like a military question, but just wanted to know..... anyways.. .thanks for this great link

just watched a TV show last night on German television. You can buy a ride in the back seat for $ 8.000,- a pop (1 hour flight) in South Africa from two private guys that buy old fighter jets. Unfortunately I don´t know the name of their company.

I believe this is in Saudi Arabia. On the oxygen masks of one of the pilots you can see the crossed swords and palm tree emblem of the country. The scenery sure looks like that of the area. In any case, some pilots with the "right stuff"

Most of that video (starting with the mask/in-flight refueling part) is taken from another clip, which was shot by French Air Force Mirage 2000 crews practicing low level flying over Morocco.

Actually I have a full video from which the above is extracted and this is over Djibouti from the titles. France has some kind of air base over there, not in Morocco IIRC.

Definitely some French AF Mirages.

Not from South Africa, but European Space Tourist http://www.european-space-tourist.com (German) provides flights in various MIGs and the SU-27. Would love to make a near-space flight at Mach 3 in a MIG 25.
