Hi!
Just saw this morning in the portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias that CASA is negotiating the sale to Portuguese Air Force of 12 CASA C295 in two versions, transport and maritime reconaissance! Portuguese Air Force was the first air force outside Spain to get the CASA C212 in 1974. This truly workhorse did a valuable service to Portugal and it will be a great replacement. Beside the 24 CASA C212 that Portugal had ( some were written-off ) Portugal also received in mid 90's 2 CASA C212-300 for fishery control. These 2 CASA C212-300 were sponsored by the EU.
The contract according to this newspaper should be closed during this month!
Regards

Total value of this contract will be 275 million euros and it will contemplate 7 CN295 tactical transports and 5 night surveilance ( I really don't know what model this will be...I'm just translating from the newspaper...so maybe someone can help on this! ) CN295. The deliveries will start from 2007 until 2010. Great shot Portugal!!!
