Can someone discuss the typical make up of Army Combat Aviation Brigades, how many aircraft and which types. Also how many members are there for Combat Aviation Brigades.

Any difference between say Active Duty and Reserve/Guard Combat Aviation Brigades?..

Thanks.

The only info I have in my references is from 1986, but at that time an Air Attack Cavalry Brigade consisted of:
-an Attack Helicopter Battalion with 21 AH-1 or AH-64, 13 OH-58C & 3 UH-60A
-a Combat Support Aviation Battalion with 10 OH-58C, 6 OH-58A, 6 UH-1A, 2 UH-60A & 6 EH-60A
-a Cavalry Squadron with 8 AH-1 or AH-64, 40 UH-60, 12 OH-58C
From what I can gather from internet sources, unit composition varies from one unit to another. As an example:

They have recently changed the makeup of the Aviation brigades of the modern Army division. There are two types of these new brigade UAs, an attack heavy or light. The difference is that one of the attack battalions is OH-58 in the light brigade.

They now have two attack helicopter battalions, an assault helicopter battalion, and a GSAB (general services aviation battalion) with one or two chinook companies and a c3 as well as dustoff companies.

They did this for the new modular concepts so that entire units can be made available without needing to draw individual companies from 4 different units

I don't have the Corps breakdown, but you only asked for the CABs. LOL

I have no idea about actual manning numbers, but they are significantly increased with the additions of the ASB and UAS battalions. Also, the Brigade Aviation Element (BAE) will be organic to each ground manuever brigade.

The AH-64As are going to Ds Block III, the UH-60 is going to the M, the CH-47 is going to the F, and new programs for the ARH, LUH, and FCA are on-going.

Don't quote this as gospel, but I believe the signal and ATS units will be with the GSAB as Echo (signal) and Foxtrot (ATS) companies.

Heavy Divisions (6 Active, 2 Reserve):

48 x AH-64
38 x UH-60
12 x CH-47
12 x HH-60 (Medevac)

- Combat Aviation Brigade HQ and Staff
- Headquarters Company
- 2 x Attack Battalions (3 companies of 8 x AH)
- 1 x Assault Battalion (3 companies of 10 x UH)
- 1 x GSAB (1 company of 8 x UH, 1 company of 12 x CH, 1 company of 12 X HH)
- 1 x Aviation Support Battalion
- 1 x UAS Battalion (24 x UAS, but not sure if 24 is the hard number)
- Signal Company
- ATS Company

Medium Divisions (3 Active):

24 x AH-64
30 x OH-58D
38 x UH-60
12 x CH-47
12 x HH-60 (Medevac)

- Combat Aviation Brigade HQ and Staff
- Headquarters Company
- 2 x Attack Battalions (3 companies of 8 x AH, 3 companies of 10 x OH)
- 1 x Assault Battalion (3 companies of 10 x UH)
- 1 x GSAB (1 company of 8 x UH, 1 company of 12 x CH, 1 company of 12 X HH)
- 1 x Aviation Support Battalion
- 1 x UAS Battalion (24 x UAS, but not sure if 24 is the hard number)
- Signal Company
- ATS Company

Light Divisions (2 Active):

60 x OH-58D
38 x UH-60
12 x CH-47
12 x HH-60 (Medevac)

- Combat Aviation Brigade HQ and Staff
- Headquarters Company
- 2 x Attack Battalions (3 companies of 10 x OH)
- 1 x Assault Battalion (3 companies of 10 x UH)
- 1 x GSAB (1 company of 8 x UH, 1 company of 12 x CH, 1 company of 12 X HH)
- 1 x Aviation Support Battalion
- 1 x UAS Battalion (24 x UAS, but not sure if 24 is the hard number)
- Signal Company
- ATS Company

AEB Divisions (6 Reserve):

This one I am least confident about the numbers. I know the TOE shows x number of frames, but they'll be "authorized" fewer frames.

24 x OH-58D
24 x AH-64 (16 authorized)
38 x UH-60
12 x CH-47 (8 authorized)
12 x HH-60 (Medevac)

- Combat Aviation Brigade HQ and Staff
- Headquarters Company
- 1 x Attack Battalion (3 companies of 8 x AH, 2 companies of 8 x AH authorized)
- 1 x S&S Battalion (3 companies of 8 x OH, will become LUH)
- 1 x Assault Battalion (3 companies of 10 x UH)
- 1 x GSAB (1 company of 8 x UH, 1 company of 12 x CH (8 x CH authorized), 1 company of 12 X HH)
- 1 x Aviation Support Battalion
- Signal Company
- ATS Company
