There are literally 100's of man made satellites orbiting the Earth. If you're talking about manned satellites, then there was Sputnik and Skylab, both of which I believe have fallen from orbit, leaving only the ISS (International space station)

The oldest one still in Earth orbit is Vanguard 1, launched in 1958 as the world's fourth man-made satellite (the three previous satellites, Sputnik 1, Sputnik 2, and Explorer 1, have all fallen back to Earth.)
