I was out at Christchurch airport today and was about to take a photo of a C-141 and KC-135 and was told not to.
I was wondering is this a normal thing when other US miltary planes are waging war?

I live very close to NAS/JRB (Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base) Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. There is a fenced in spotting area for non-military personnel by the threshold for runway 33, the most commonly used runway, and the gates into the spotting area are always open. Runway 15/33 is the only runway at Willow Grove... unless I'm mistaken (and I hope I'm not!).
