It looks like FYR Macedonia will get some military equipment from FR Yugoslavia, as part of the succession deal for the old Yugoslavia (SFRY). When the JNA (Yugoslav People's Army) retreated from Macedonia, it left almost nothing behind, and now Macedonia is getting its share. It will mostly be ground army and anti-terrorist equipment (and a batallion of T-55s), but will also include air defence equipment (unspecified) and some aircraft.
The aircraft will apparently be four SuperGaleb G4 (Yug. Army designation: N-62), Yugoslav built, and Russian An-26 and Yak-40, one each. The Yugoslav Air Force has 15 An-26s and six Yak-40s (2 of the Yaks are used for radar calibration, the other for VIP transport).

YuAF has about 40 G4s. Macedonia already has Su-25 but it seems they have proven ineffective combating the Albanian insurgents (in Macedonia's case at least) and Macedonia had previously, when the conflict was still intense, had examined the probability of acquiring Galeb/Jastrebs or Super Galebs.
I don't know why the Su-25 in tandem with the Mi-24 had proven ineffective, perhaps Mac. pilots didn't have enough training (they are familiar with G2/G4 though) or maybe G4 is more manouverable?

There is a dial Yugoslavia to GIVE BUCK some of our equipment they took in 1992 from Macedonia
[MAcedonia not a FYR of Macedonia].
There's going to be an-26 and yak-40 without any g4[thanks good] .They are all piece of crup according to my modest opinion exept yak-40.
I hope so that my goverment will sell them immediately, but that's a very little hope knowing their stupid decisions.
Andrija Su-25 and mi-24 prove themselves in the missions when they could be used:killled 500 TERRORISTS[there is a lot of Mojahedins, talibans, narco dilers ,dogs of war,Albanians from KOSOVO etc]near the radusa in 2 minutes but they are not effective against groups consisted of 5-10 terrorists surrounded with civilians.
We mustn't use them in situatrions like that foreign medias already put pictures with albanian minority suffering where there's no such thing at all[Albanians are 22% of the population ,25% of the parlametaries and 35 % of ministers in Macedonian goverment]

From here it seems like you will use Yak-40 for VIP transport (those politicians always thinking about themselves). About Su-25/Mi-24 thing I just read that somewhere, I didn't know the details. I'm aware of the difficulties that come from battling terrorists (it happened to us first) so IMO the only way to battle them effectively from the air is to use aircraft the old Yugoslavia built for that purpose like Galeb, Jastreb, Supergaleb, Kraguj, maybe even Utva-75, of course supported by helicopters. But it's all useless without some "specijalci" on the ground.

As for the G4s, they may be in bad shape due to lack of funding, and their avionics aren't up to date (although there is the G4M upgrade), but otherwise it's a good aircraft for its purpose IMHO. It's a good trainer, and useful for light strike. However I really don't know what Macedonia will do with an An-26. What's it gonna do, fly Skoplje - Ohrid?

Well better to use yak-40 than buying a new gulfsteram 4 [or the croatian pre used]
Yugoslavia is giving buck our wepons because they are under pressure to get rid of it.
We don't need it exept for selling or putting it in some museum
we need modern attack chopers ka-52 with night capable avionics ,ka-60 for transport ,more predators btr-90 and some modern tanks.
We need all of that few but effective units :no hinds, froogfoots, hips etc etc etc.
Specijalci=special forces
Sta si po nacionalnosti ili poteklom ako si iz kanade?

Srbin sam, sta bi bio  Smile
I don't think we're under pressure to get rid of weapons, since we're within the regional control limitations, I just think we have too much of it for our own good.
As for modern aircraft you can always pay Yugoimport SDPR to modernize the G4s to G4M  Big grin. Modern avionics, plus capability to use AA missiles and AGM-65 Maverick.

Unfortunately you Yugoslavia same as Macedonia is asking or should i say begging for foreign credits & loans and one of the terms is to get rid of the weapons.
Also we don't need g4 nor the others piece of crup sorry to say this but it's true.
We need modern chopers ka-52 and ka-60 not with night capable avionics .Not many units but modern and equiped .Also we need modern tanks like m84 btr80/90 and some equipment for special forces.
We will by serb made equipment and some modern western sniper rifles and guns and that's it.
