Food for military aircraft lovers. Two weeks ago I was in central Greece where I discovered a retired Lockheed F104 Starfighter of the Greek Air Force high up in the mountains, very well preserved. It stands in a garden of a new and still to be completed house, west-south-west of the Greek city Lamia. I also found the exact spot by Google Earth: 38" 52'01.56" N 22" 13'16.62" E
As the Google Earth image spot is pictured few years ago you can only see the fundaments of the house and the Starfigther in front of the house is not yet present. Therefore I have enclosed my pictures of this particular Starfighter in this post.
Maybe Greek spotters can you tell the Airliners.net audience more about this Starfighter and why it is there?
The red point marks the exact spot where the Starfighter stands now!

Do they let the air out of the tires intentionally when storing aircraft like that?
Some place the wheels on special mounts so that the wheel is off of the ground and the tire does not get damaged.
I bet every kid for ten miles wants to get in that cockpit! I think the township would have a problem if I put a fighter in my front yard. then again it would have to be a small fighter...

An old Cold War joke...
What is the definition of an optimist?
A German F-104 pilot that quits smoking becasue he is afraid of getting lung cancer.
I had revolutionary War canon in my backyard, this way better.
