A Dutch pilot and his F-16 have been lost in Afghanistan in what seems like a strange accident.
According to the Netherlands AF, the aircraft crashed in the morning of 31 Aug in Ghazni Province, just north of Uruzgan Province. The pilot's body and the wreck have been found by a US rescue team. Based at Kabul, the aircraft was on its way south to support ISAF ground troops. The aircraft was flying at high altitude, and it is being ruled out that it was shot down.

It's sad to lose allies and comrades. My thoughts go to the family of the pilot and his friends.
