Flightglobal reports that JSF LRIP is threatened by pressure on the budget. How would this affect the services' orders and delivery positions for partner nations in the program?

Quoting DEVILFISH (Thread starter):
LRIP

LRIP means Low Rate Initial Production. Please, folks, some of the visitors to this site aren't familiar with terms and abbreviations. Spell it out for 'em so that they can understand and be encouraged to remain involved with the forum.

While the October target for first flight was not met, after conducting engine test runs, the VP of the F-35 integrated test force was optimistic that this could be between mid-November and mid-December this year - though carefully emphasising it "will fly when the aircraft is ready."

Some reasons for the delay were reported here.....

The F135 engine was just very recently approved for "installed run". In other words, to run up the engine that's actually already in the aircraft. The budget cuts are the same old story unfortunately. They'll delay production, drive up the cost, then turn around and say "it's too expensive, let's only buy a few".
