I remember hearing about the EADS Mako/High Engergy Advanced Trainer many years ago....around '99/'00. Of course after a bit all mention of this aircraft seems to have disappeared. Six years later I stumble upon this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EADS_Mako/High_Energy_Advanced_Trainer

So what's the status of the Mako? Has a prototype been built, or is this project stillborn? Seems like a glutony of advanced trainers on the market...is there room for Mako? Any more resources out there where one can learn more about this mysterious aircraft?

I found a video of Mako's maiden flight somewhere, but I have no idea if EADS have found some clients and received orders by now.

Luftwaffe showed some interest if I recall correctly but now plans to upgrade and keep their T-38 until 2020.

Interesting...the wikipedia article says EADS never set a first flight date.

Looks pretty cool...

Greece is planning to launch a tender for the replacement of it's trainer aircraft. Maybe the Mako could be a candidate if it went ahead.....
