I know number 8 is the opposing solo. So when they do their opposing aileron rolls it seems that 8 is not the luckiest number. However if I remember correctly the other snowbirds have perished while doing the opposing passes as well. The one where the lead solo dives right up in between all 5 aircraft. If you look at the diagram here, they are both on the outward tips for the left turns which gives them a bit more work.
