Alvin S. White (1918 - 2006) RIP

Posted (7 years 6 months 3 weeks 2 hours ago) and read 2332 times:

He was the chief pilot for NAA on the XB-70. He died April 29th last year. He was 87 years of age (born Dec 9, 1918).

He also to my knowledge worked on the F-86, the F-100, and F-107, and has flown overall at least 125 aircraft, logging a total of 8,500 hrs during his career.

Wow... This is the first I had heard of this...

I had a chance to meet him about ten years ago, and because of the day, I have always been interested in the XB-70....

In all honesty, I cannot really remember... I was 12 at the time, and all that I remember was him talking about test flying the Valkyrie... It was at an aviation trade show, and I only met him for a total of about two minutes after his presentation... I have an signed photo of him in front of the XB-70 somewhere in a box... I should try to find it.
